Dad's iphone kept Annika out of trouble.
Receiving her high heeled (grown up) shoes from her dad.
Saira and Isela
Mom wanted a detail of the hem.
Here are the lovely pix from our weekend festivities. We attended Isela's Quinceanera. What a celebration it was. We first met Isela 7 years ago. I was pregnant with Esme' and decided it was time to get another housekeeper to help me out. Saira has blessed our lives since then. Back then, Isela would come with her mom and play with Ara and Ella during holidays and the summer. They had a lot of fun together. I don't see her as often now, she stays home with her 2 little brothers quite often. I was so very impressed with her poise and graciousness. What a fine young woman. She is a freshman in High School and is taking all honors classes. She says it's hard, but she can get the work done if she puts the time into it.
We were THRILLED that Mom and Dad made the party.
Annika documented much of this - she loves the camera.
Saira and her family put SO much work and money into this celebration. It was a fantastic event.
This is ISela in 2005 - in our tree.

Thanks for posting the pics - time certainly does fly - she would come to our house with her mom when Saira cleaned for us and rummage through my books to find something to read.
We certainly wish her the best - she is a lovely young woman.
I like Saira and her family a lot. Saira seems like she works a ton, cares about her family, and (at least to me) it seems like they are making it inch by inch. From my limited, anecdotal interactions with her she seems grounded, hard-working, and faithful.
Why wouldn't we want to welcome more families like hers into the US? Though the term is a bit over-hyped right now, her immigrant experience is something that makes me truly hopeful about our country.
also, i voted Bob Barr on his pledge to abolish the personal income tax. Obama had CA wrapped up anyway.
She's gorgeous - I wanted one so badly!
OK I am sold ... I am thinking maybe a Vente"Quinceanero" ... we will see what 3 years brings ...hopefully a fiesta grande.
this party made a sweet sixteen party very appealing.
and karl - i have to agree with you - saira is a wonderful person - she is very faithful and kind.
